What are we……???

Lately there has been a discussion about whether we who are trained preschoolteacher and work in day care centers should be called preschool teacher, teacher or nursery teacher. The result is most likely nursery teacher, although this proposal has received the least votes. When I heard the name nursery teacher, I got the chills. I automatically thought back at the time when anyone who worked in the nursery was called kindergarten aunt. Kindergarten Aunt has a demeaning tone, I think, and certainly don’t give us the respect that I think we deserve. Still there are people who look at us as kindergarten aunt because they linger in the old term. A kindergarten aunt was previously working in the nursery as a storage place for the children. Today, it is not so. Working in day care is certainly not relaxing. We want to ensure that children receive the right care and the proper development and learning. It requires us to teach children respect, appropriate language, interaction, social competence, compassion, motor development. Working as a preschool teacher requires 3 years of education at college, and I can tell you that it is not just a picnic. Many people still believes that working in day care center is the eassiest thing to do, that we “just” look after the children. I challenge those who believe this to work in a nursery for 1 week, then you can come back to me and tell me if you still mean that we "just" watch the cute little ones, or if it is a demanding job. I think that the term pre-school teacher or educator is best for us with this education. We work with children of preschool age, thus fits the best. So what the result will be remains to be seen. What do you think?

Great day….

Despite that I had to get up early,it was a great day….. It’s sunday, and most sundays I usually stay in bed to 10 or 11…..but today I had to get up at 6.45….yeah…..! It was parents meating and conference at my son’s school. As some of you know he goes to a boarding school,so he does not live with me at the moment. After the parent conference my son and I went for a drive, and we ended up having lunch at an old place that was a favorite when I was his age…..mmmmmmm

Don’t worry,be happy….

Ok,I know……It’s been a while since I was here…..but hey,I have a life actually…..

I’ve started work fulltime again after my sickleave, and it’s nice to work. Don’t get me wrong,I get tired and I have pain in my leg every day,but it’s nice to have something to do.

Today I was out meeting my good friend Aina. It’s always nice to meet her. We always have something to talk about, and we always enjoy good coffee and a good talk.DSC03978

Can you believe it,we’re gotten as far as march 10……. It’s crazy how fast time flies when you’re having fun Smilefjes.

Now a days I’m checking the travel agencys for flights for me and my good friend Tove. Last year we went to Alanya together for 2 weeks, DSC03458

and we want to do the same this year. So we have decided when to go and where to live, now it’s only flight tickets missing….can’t wait. If time flies like it has done to now,the holiday will come really soon. DSC03437

Have a really nice evening,and enjoy life…..
